Kancho Shioda Yasuhisa seminar in St. Petersburg
| St. Petersburg Yoshinkan Aikido Center holds international seminar on Yoshinkan aikido conducted by Kancho Shioda Yasuhisa, son of Gozo Shioda, founder of Yoshinkan aikido and one of the best students of Ueshiba Morihei. The seminar is scheduled to take place on April 16-19, 2010. The program includes 10 training classes (including 2 classes with participation of children), master class for black belts, attestation for black belts. The venue of the seminar and the participation fee to be precised.

Standard aikido programme
| For the attention of trainers and heads of aikido clubs: “Standard Training Programme for Institutions of Additional Education” (written by A.B. Kachan, A.G. Dorofeev, A.V. Chufistov) was edited and published in 2009. The programme is intended for aikido experts who work in the additional education service of the Ministry of Education of Russia, children’s and youth physical training clubs, children’s and youth sports schools and social organizations developing martial arts. The programme consists of a regulatory and methodological sections and practical materials. The regulatory section contains standards and laws of institutions of additional physical and sport education. The methodological section contains materials on types of training, control and educational work. The programme (87 pages, print run 50 copies) is sold in bookshops of Moscow. You can also send us an application for this publication (contacts). Please indicate the required number of copies, your postal address, the recipient’s first name and surname. Your applications received by March 15, 2010 will be forwarded to the draftsmen of the programme. They will consider publishing an extra edition and sending the publication cash on delivery.

“For Connoisseurs”: the results of the contest
We thank the president of St. Petersburg aikido club “Sutemi-dojo” Vasiliy Shadrin who set the questions and provided detailed comments on the participants’ answers. We thank all those who took part in the contest and showed persistence and willingness to get closer to the truth in search of the answers. The main prize, a ticket to the aikido festival “White Nights – 2010”, goes to the participant Student. According to the conditions of the contest, Student also gets very valuable prizes: aikido books signed by Tamura sensei and Yamada sensei, a ticket to the seminar of Stephan Benedetti in St. Petersburg (January 29-31, 2010) and a bokken. |

Seminar with Stephane Benedetti (6th dan Aikikai)
| Seminar with Stephane Benedetti (6th dan Aikikai) will be held in St. Petersburg from January, 29 to January, 31 2010. Iaido: Seminar with Christophe Marie
International seminar in Iaido Muso Shinden-ryu in the sections "Iai" and "Kenjutsu" will take place in St. Petersburg on April, 16, 17, 18 2010. The seminar will be conducted by the teacher of European Iaido Federation Christophe Marie, kuden (France). The seminar will be organized by the Russian branch of European Iaido Federation, St. Petersburg Aikido Federation with the support of Russian Union of Martial Arts as part of the State program "Health of the Nation".

Interesting video: Film Island of Hope
| We begin to place informative materials into the section "Video – Films". These materials are not directly connected with aikido, but they reflect unconventional ideas and active social position, which are congenial to many aikido practitioners in our opinion. The film "Island of Hope" is the first video of this kind at our site. The film is about Sergey Alexeevich Alexeev, who was the prototype of the central character of the film "Lads" directed by Dinara Asanova (the role was performed by Valery Priemykhov). Sergey Alekseev was an enthusiast, a leader and a talented teacher. He was the first who started to work with the so called "problem children" in order to reeducate them. The most important achievement among his merits was not even drawing attention of the state to the problem and not gathering unique teaching staff, but devising a system of reeducation of the lads. There were surprising results. Instead of lading hearts with sorrow, dozens of problem children could get better thanks to S.V. Alekseev.
