Today the process of development and control in the field of martial arts in Russia is becoming more intense.
The meeting of the Administrative Council of St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Union of Martial Arts took place on September 03, 2009 at the Olympia Hall of the St Petersburg Committee for Physical Culture and Sports.
Establishment of commissions and working groups of the Council, preparation activities for the state accreditation of sports federations and martial arts federations have been discussed.
The annual seminar led by Horikoshi sensei, 7-th Dan Aikikai, will take place in St Petersburg on September 25-27, 2009. The seminar is held by the “Seimei” dojo, St Petersburg Aikido Federation under support of the International Euro-Asian Aikido Federation.
On Monday, July 13, 2009, at the age of 88, Kiyoyuki Terada sensei, 10-th Dan Yoshinkan Aikido, passed away.
Terada sensei was one of the Yoshinkan Aikido founders and developed it together with Gozo Shioda. Terada sensei contributed greatly to Yoshinkan Aikido development in Russia.
XVIII-th traditional international Aikido festival “White Nights – 2009” took place in St Petersburg on June 19-21, 2009.
Aikido festival “White Nights – 2009” was held under the aegis of the Russian Union of Martial Arts and the National Aikido Council of Russia, under support of the International Euro-Asian Aikido Federation and the St Petersburg Aikido Federation in the framework of “Health of Nation” state program.
